GUWAHATI: The civil administration of Manipur has imposed an indefinite curfew from Thursday night across all villages situated in the Jiribam-Tamenglong inter-district border areas after tension resurfaced in the region over the killing of a villager by unidentified men on Thursday.

The recovery of 59-year-old Soibam Saratkumar Singh’s body, bearing wounds inflicted by a sharp object on his farm at Lamtai Khunoun in Jiribam district, sparked outrage and fear among the locals.

For a coordinated security response, a joint control room has been established, bringing together officials from the Assam Rifles, Central Reserve Police Force, Manipur Police, and Indian Reserve Battalion.
