Imphal: PM Narendra Modi is not likely to meet Manipur MLAs and civil society organisations (CSOs) despite appeals for the same from various quarters over the last two years.Sources confirmed that the PM will meet the internally displaced persons (IDPs) both at Churachandpur and Imphal. However, there have been no reports of him convening a special meeting with the MLAs or the CSOs to discuss and resolve the ongoing conflict.

BJP northeast coordinator Sambit Patra, who briefed the press at Thambal Sanglen ahead of PM’s visit, refused to respond to queries about the PM meeting MLAs and CSOs during his visit. However, sources reveal that he is not likely to have a special meeting with them.Meanwhile, Naga Women’s Union expressed concern over “selective” facilitation being planned during PM Modi’s visit. It said it sought an appointment to meet the PM from officials concerned. “Limiting interactions to only certain groups is sending a message of exclusion and partiality, which undermines the sentiment of other tribes and communities,” the union said.
