Storm leaves trail of destruction in western Assam
Dhubri: Successive storms, accompanied by torrential rain, have left a trail of destruction in Kokrajhar, Bongaigaon, Dhubri and other areas of western Assam over the last two days.
At Chapar and in neighbouring areas of Dhubri district, 12 people were injured in the storm.
At several locations, trees were uprooted, tin roofs were blown away, and paddy fields were damaged.
Social activist Tilak Prasad told TOI that apart from damage to houses, 12 persons were injured in the storm when their houses were blown away.
“Bilasipara legislator Jibesh Roy visited the affected areas and took stock of the damage. He also vowed assistance from the govt,” Prasad added.
A Dhubri district administration official said a team was assessing damage caused by the storm and would provide details soon.
