Davanagere: Davanagere police cracked 5 cases involving murder, robbery, dacoity and theft, arrested 11 suspects, and recovered property worth Rs 70.6 lakh, including 534 grams of gold and 639 grams of silver.Superintendent of police HT Shekhar said the solved cases included a farmhouse dacoity in Santhebennur, the murder and robbery of a lone woman in Nyamati, a house theft in KTJ Nagar, and a gold theft in Nalluru village under Channagiri police station.

SP Shekhar noted that in the Sept 6 dacoity at a farmhouse on the outskirts of Kakanuru village, Channagiri, Santhebennur police arrested 5 suspects from Salem district, Tamil Nadu—Satish Kumar, 40, Keshavan, 43, Arun Prashanth, 26, Arasu, 26, and Kamaladevi, 38. Police said the gang broke into a house near State Highway-76 at night, threatened residents Savithramma and Madappa, and decamped with valuables."Officers seized 96 grams of gold worth Rs 14 lakh. The accused reportedly has multiple cases in Tamil Nadu and Bengaluru. In a gold theft at Azgar Ali's house in KTJ Nagar on Feb 17, police arrested Gautham Raj, 35, an auto driver from Vinobanagar, Shivamogga, and recovered 261 grams of gold worth Rs 29 lakh," he added.
SP Shekhar said the suspect targeted locked houses after tracking residents' movements, and that his arrest helped solve multiple cases across KTJ Nagar, Basavanagar and Harihar, with 19 cases registered against him in several districts. Police also arrested tenants Syed Mudasir, 19, Syed Muzammil, 19, and Mohammad Sahil, 24, for a February 14 theft at Syed Nafees' house in Nalluru, recovering 72 grams of gold worth Rs 10 lakh.Another accused, Parashuram, 28, from Bhadravathi, was held for a Sept 2 theft in Channagiri; police seized 38 grams of gold worth Rs 8 lakh and 200 grams of silver, alleging he scout homes under the guise of ‘snake-catching'. "In the Nyamati murder case, Abhishek K, 23, was arrested for killing Kamalamma, 64, and robbing 67 grams of gold worth Rs 8.4 lakh, which he pawned to fund his online gaming habit," he added.
