Kalaburagi: Congress workers took to the streets here on Tuesday, protesting against the hike in petrol, diesel and LPG prices and demanding an immediate rollback by the BJP-led Union govt. The demonstration, organised by the district Congress committee, started at the party office on Sedam Road and marched to Annapurna Cross. Protesters raised slogans against the Union govt and blocked vehicular movement at the busy junction as part of the agitation. Addressing the gathering, Gescom Chairman Praveen Patil Haraval alleged that the steady rise in fuel prices placed an increasing burden on poor families and urged the Union govt to reduce LPG, petrol and diesel prices without delay. District Women’s Congress president Renuka Singe and District Youth Congress President Shakeel Ahmed Saradgi, participated in the protest.
