He was speaking at the foundation stone-laying ceremony for multiple police infrastructure projects under the Belagavi City Police Commissionerate and District Police at the City Lane Police Quarters premises here Friday. Parameshwar said since police work around the clock to ensure public safety, it is important to provide secure and comfortable living conditions for their families. With this objective, the govt is strengthening housing and infrastructure facilities for the force. The minister said projects worth Rs 67.8 crore were being launched across Gokak, Kittur, Kulagod, Sankeshwar and Chikkodi. In Shahapur, residential quarters are being constructed for Rs 3.9 crore. Each housing unit costs approximately Rs 38 lakh. Meanwhile, foundation stones were laid for 144 new police quarters at City Lane, along with barracks, dining and kitchen facilities. Focus on welfare and efficiency Parameshwar said the govt has approved several schemes to address the needs of police personnel and has instructed officers to ensure effective law enforcement.
He also urged the police staff to respond promptly to public grievances. He added that a stable law and order environment has helped attract investment to the state, generating employment and boosting revenue. Communal disturbances, he said, were under control over the past three years. Crackdown on drugs and cybercrime Meanwhile, the home minister warned of stringent action against drug trafficking and substance abuse, saying offenders would face uncompromising legal consequences. He said awareness programmes were being conducted in colleges to prevent addiction among the youth. On cybercrime, he acknowledged a rise in cases and said technology was being leveraged to detect and curb such offences effectively. In his introductory address, city police commissioner Bhushan Borase announced that an ‘Akka Café' would be set up by the zilla panchayat at City Lane for the convenience of police personnel and visitors.
