Rs 15cr boost for Belagavi roads, 3 projects cleared by Centre
Belagavi: Belagavi MP Jagadish Shettar has welcomed the central govt’s decision to sanction Rs 15 crore for the improvement of three key roads covering nearly 22 km within the Belagavi Lok Sabha constituency under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF).
In a release, Shettar said Union minister for road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari approved the proposal and released funds for the road development works. He recalled that a few months ago, he had met Gadkari in New Delhi and submitted a proposal seeking financial assistance for nine road repair projects covering approximately 80.3 km of damaged roads across the constituency. The proposal had sought an allocation of Rs 86.4 crore.
Following the request, the ministry has approved three projects in the first phase. These include the improvement of the 12-km Desur–Nandihalli–Kukadolli road in Belagavi taluk at Rs 8 crore; the 5-km Bijagarni–Kavalewadi–Janewadi–Karle–Bahaddurwadi–Kiniye link road connecting to State Highway-54 at Rs 4 crore; and the 5-km stretch from Chivatgundi Cross to Chivatgundi in Bailhongal taluk at an estimated cost of Rs 3 crore.
Expressing satisfaction over the sanction, Shettar said the projects would improve connectivity, facilitate smoother transportation and provide much-needed relief to commuters and residents in the affected areas.
Shettar also expressed confidence that the remaining road projects proposed under the CRIF scheme would receive approval in due course, further strengthening connectivity and boosting economic activity across the constituency.
