Gadag: Haveri MP Basavaraj Bommai has predicted political instability in the state for the next two years.Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, Bommai said that though the transfer of power appears smooth on the surface, internal conflicts are still simmering strongly. “The state will witness dissatisfaction and administrative decline, and the lives of common people are likely to become difficult. Signs of unrest are visible in the confusion over portfolio allocation. Many Congress MLAs and ministers have not fully accepted DK Shivakumar as CM. Congress legislators want to become ministers as they believe the party may not return to power in 2028,” he said.He stated that political stability is essential for good governance and said it remains to be seen how Shivakumar handles these challenges. “Shivakumar is known as a ‘troubleshooter’, but now there is no one else to resolve the current troubles,” he remarked.Responding to a question on whether former CM Siddaramaiah is inactive within the Congress, Bommai said Siddaramaiah remains very much active. “In the first phase of the cabinet, the influence of Mallikarjun Kharge, Siddaramaiah, and the high command is clearly visible. If in the next phase Shivakumar appoints his trusted people as ministers, then it can be said that his influence is visible; otherwise, it means his mark is absent,” he added.Responding to Congress in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala’s statement that BJP insulted former prime minister HD Deve Gowda, Bommai said Surjewala does not understand Karnataka politics and suffers from ‘selective memory’.
