Baby girl found dead at Jala Vihar; police rule out abduction angle

HYDERABAD: A 14-month-old girl who went missing on Thursday morning from the huts of labourers working at Jala Vihar, was found dead under suspicious circumstances in the afternoon in a nearby sump.
Ramgopalpet police said Akshara was playing with other children near a group of huts, where the labourers live. Based on the complaint given by her father Appalanaidu, a kidnap case was registered.Police conducted extensive searches for the girl. They found her, dead, in a nearby sump.
Earlier, one of the children in the locality alerted the victim's parents that some unknown persons had taken the girl away. During investigation, police ruled out the angle of kidnap by verifying CCTV footage. "We are verifying whether it is an accidental death or if there is any foul play," police said.
Deputy commissioner of police (Central Zone) Vishwa Prasad visited the spot to ascertain the facts of the case.
