BJP, BRS & Congress prepare models of governance for Telangana voters
Congress, which rules a few states, is only highlighting the achievements of its government in Karnataka. AICC leader Rahul Gandhi, during a rally in Tukkuguda, had asked people to inquire about the implementation of its poll guarantees in that state.
The BRS proposes to implement its own model of governance throughout the country. Party leaders such as CM K Chandrashekar Rao speaks about their flagship schemes such as Rythu Bandhu and development of the IT sector in Hyderabad and other towns.
In the past, there was a war of words between Laxman and state minister KT Rama Rao over the UP and Telangana models.
State misses deadline to revise model UG syllabus
The higher education department in Odisha is still working on revising the undergraduate (UG) model syllabus for degree colleges and state public universities. The department had planned to implement the revised syllabus this academic year but has missed the deadline. The Odisha State Higher Education Council (OSHEC) has completed only 75% of the work so far. The syllabuses are being prepared for over 35 subjects, including honours, inter-disciplinary, and skill enhancement courses. The revised model syllabus is expected to be implemented from the academic session 2024-25.
Ex-BRS MLA may join Congress
Former MLA Vemula Veeresham from Nakrekal is expected to join the Congress party due to his dissatisfaction with the BRS leadership. He was denied a ticket while Chirumarthi Lingaiah, who defeated him in the last election and later joined BRS, has been renominated by CM KCR. Veeresham will be joined by former MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy in Delhi to join Congress. Ponguleti has submitted a list of candidates seeking tickets for 12 constituencies. This comes as BJP leaders and other BRS members are also switching parties.
Venkat Reddy & wife join BRS in big setback to BJP
In a setback for the BJP in Hyderabad, party corporator Padma Venkat Reddy and her husband, senior BJP leader B Venkat Reddy, have joined the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). This move is seen as a blow to BJP state party chief G Kishan Reddy, as Amberpet constituency is considered a stronghold of the saffron party. BRS is focusing on assembly constituencies represented by BJP and is expected to field Kishan Reddy as a candidate in Amberpet. The party is also reportedly trying to attract BJP corporators from other areas.
