Cheating case registered against Tollywood actor Vishwant for 'duping' businessman in Hyderabad

, his father and others for allegedly duping a businessman in the guise of delivering a car for 30 percent discount.


On January 8, 2021, Banjara Hills police received a complaint from

R Rama Krishna

, 47, a businessman from

Sri Nagar Colony

stating that in 2017, he approached D Laxmi Kumar and his son Viswant of Kothaguda, after coming to know from his friend Satyanarayana that they are selling cars for 30 per cent discount.

The complainant alleged that Laxmi Kumar and Viswant offered to provide Rs 25.5 lakh worth

for Rs 17.6 lakh and as per their instructions, he transferred Rs 10 lakh into their bank account on September 29, 2017. Subsequently on November 20, 2017, Viswant informed Rama Krishna that his vehicle is ready and asked him to pay the balance amount of Rs 7.6 lakh.

"Rama Krishna paid Rs 2.5 lakh to Viswant and took the vehicle from him but the latter did not hand him over the vehicle ownership papers immediately. Later whenever Rama Krishna asked for vehicle documents, the accused gave some excuses. Subsequently, Rama Krishna found out that Laxmi Kumar, Viswant along with their associate, A Akash Goud have mortgaged the vehicle documents with a finance company and took Rs 20 lakh loan. Rama Krishna alleged that he was duped by the accused and requested us to initiate appropriate legal action against them," Banjara Hills inspector N Kalinga Rao said.

Based on the complaint, a cheating case was registered under sections 406 and 420 of the IPC. Police are investigating the case and no arrests have been made yet.
