hyderabad: chittoor legislator c k babu (jayachandra reddy) has alleged that pradesh congress committee president m satyanarayana rao has failed to honour a commitment given to him and vayalpad mla n kiran kumar reddy that a member of their group would be made the dcc president. babu told reporters on monday that he refused to accept his appointment as general secretary of the state unit of the party, announced by the high command recently. babu said that if the leadership felt that he could not be entrusted with a post at the district level, how could it now consider him appropriate for a post at the state level? he alleged that senior leaders in hyderabad were promoting leaders who had colluded with the telugu desam party. it may be recalled that group rivalry in the chittoor district congress unit came to the fore during the recent zilla parishad elections. though it was sorted out following intervention by pcc president m satyanarayana rao and the clp leader y s rajasekhara reddy it resurfaced with the appointment of pileru legislator p ramachandra reddy as the dcc president. according to babu, the pcc president at that time had refused to give the zp chairman post to a member of their group, but had promised the dcc president ship to them. he said that rao had requested them not make public their discussions, and assured that he would protect their interests. babu said as a senior leader he had expected rao to stand by his word, however he was disappointed by the actions of the pcc chief. babu charged the pcc president to be responsible for the poor performance of the party in the siddipet by election and the loss of the karimnagar zp chairman post the native district of the pcc chief. however, the pcc president m satyanarayna rao refuted the allegations of babu.
