Girls outperform boys in Polycet exam in Telangana
Hyderabad: Results of the Polytechnic Common Entrance Test (POLYCET)-2026, conducted by the State Board of Technical Education and Training (SBTET), Telangana, were declared on Saturday by commissioner of technical education A Sridevasena.
Of the 1,06,439 candidates who registered for the examination held on May 13, as many as 98,029 appeared, and 81,307 qualified, registering an overall pass percentage of 82.9. Of the 45,828 girls who appeared, 39,588 qualified, registering a pass percentage of 86.3. In comparison, 41,719 of the 52,201 boys who appeared cleared the examination, recording a pass percentage of 79.9.
Among streams, MPC candidates recorded 82.9%, while MBiPC candidates registered 81.2%. Officials said candidates were required to secure a minimum of 36 marks out of 120, or 30%, to qualify. However, SC and ST candidates were required to secure only one mark. Ranks were allotted to all 18,481 SC and 8,817 ST candidates who qualified.
Rank cards are available on the official website, polycet.sbtet.telangana.gov.in, and can also be downloaded via WhatsApp to registered mobile numbers. Scanned OMR sheets have also been uploaded for candidate verification. Candidates were informed that newspaper notifications would serve as the official call letter for counselling. Those absent during certificate verification would be treated as ineligible for admission into polytechnic courses for the 2026-27 academic year.
Separate admission notifications for diploma courses under PJTSAU, SKLTHU and PVNRTVU would be issued through the respective university websites. Meanwhile, the results of the Lateral Entry Polytechnic Common Entrance Test (LPCET)-2026 were also declared on Saturday. Of the 508 candidates who appeared for the examination, 291 qualified, registering a pass percentage of 57.2.
Among boys, 281 of the 491 candidates who appeared cleared the examination, recording a pass percentage of 57., while 10 of the 17 girls who appeared qualified, registering a pass percentage of 58.8. All 111 SC and 66 ST candidates who appeared for LPCET-2026 qualified, recording a 100% pass percentage.
