HYDERABAD: A keen contest is on the cards for the A P Film Chamber of Commerce elections scheduled for Sunday.
Two panels are vying to have a grip over the body during the centenary year of Indian cinema. While one panel mainly has top producers and distributors as members, the other comprises small budget filmmakers. Last year, small budget filmmakers had proved their supremacy in the elections.

This time the contest is keener as they have some achievements to show off, including VAT waiver.
Technically speaking while one group is led by producers C Kalyan and K Ashok Kumar, the panel among others has Dil Raju, Mohan Vadlapatla and others. This group is being said to be backed by producer and studio owner Daggubati Suresh Babu.
Another group is said to have the backing of Dasari Narayana Rao and is being led from the front by director Sagar and producer Prasanna Kumar Reddy. The contestants among this group include AVS, Vijaychander and Yalamanchili Ravi Chand.
The exhibitors will have to elect their 16 representatives, distributors and producers 12 each and the studio owners five representatives. All those elected will comprise the executive committee of the film chamber. The respective sectors will also elect their sector chairmen.
For the year 2013-14, it is the turn of the distributors to elect one of them as president of the film chamber. The president’s post is occupied on rotation by a member of one of the four sections. Tammareddy Bharadwaja from the producers sector is the incumbent. Electronic voting machines (EVMs) will be used in the polling.
