hyderabad: the metropolitan sessions judge on tuesday granted crime investigation department''s (cid) plea for the police custody of krushi bank directors v rambabu and k sridhar, and k vijay simha, father of the bank''s chairman and prime accused k venkateshwar rao. the cid had filed an application for the custody to get clues about the absconding persons involved in the case.
the court granted custody of accused for three days from february 13. venkateshwara rao and his sister sunitha are still absconding. meanwhile, in another case, the first additional metropolitan sessions judge convicted vinayaka rao and sentenced him to 16 months imprisonment and a fine of rs 5000 in a dowry harassment case. according to the prosecution, on june 26, 1997, the chaderghat police received a complaint stating that the deceased c jyothi hanged herself to death. during investigation, it came to light that the accused subjected her to cruelty for dowry. unable to bear the harassment, she committed suicide.
