Man stages own kidnap drama, held

Anantapur: A weaver was arrested from Karnataka on Tuesday for staging his own kidnap in a bid to extract money from his in-laws.
Ramanjaneyulu of Dharmavaram had gone missing from his residence four days ago.
A video clip with his mouth gagged was sent to his sister in Madanapalle, who alerted his wife Laxmi Devi.
Police suspected foul play and formed two teams to investigate the case.Ramanjaneyulu was found in Karnataka and brought back to Anantapur.
Later, he told the police that he staged the kidnap to get Rs 3 lakh ransom from his in-laws. Ramanjaneyulu reportedly had huge debts and desperately needed money to clear them.
Police traced the phone used to send the WhatsApp video and eventually, held him in Karnataka.
