Indore: Amid heatwave and ongoing water shortage in the city, a dispute erupted between two groups in Scheme No 54, with each accusing the other of assault over filling water from a public tap.
Vijay Nagar police station in-charge Chandrakant Patel said that cases were registered on the complaints of both parties on Friday.
A resident of the area, Radha Pancholi, 54, alleged that she had gone to fill water from a government tap near her house in Doordarshan Colony, on May 20 when Mukesh, Mahavir Prajapat and his son Atul Prajapat stopped her from filling water. She alleged that the trio abused her and later assaulted her. Radha further alleged that Honey Prajapat and Aman also reached the spot and manhandled her during the dispute.
In the counter complaint, Dharmveer Prajapat, 48, alleged that Chetram Pancholi, his wife Radha and their son Sikandar came to fill water from their tap on May 22. When asked to use another tap, an argument broke out. Dharmveer alleged that Sikandar slapped him during the altercation. He further claimed that when his son Atul Prajapat reached the spot to intervene, Chetram’s daughters Sneha and Shraddha Pancholi assaulted Atul.
