Dibang fest from Oct 26 to showcase Idu Mishmi culture & local cuisine

Itanagar: Third edition of the Dibang winter festival will start from October 26 at Anini, Dibang valley district information and public relations officer said on Sunday. The two-day festival, which began in 2022, aims to promote sustainable tourism and showcase Idu Mishmi culture through local cuisine, handloom and handicrafts.Trekking, cycling, rafting, village walks, workshop on local cuisine and Igu-Tamro (ancient way of shamanism), for a better understanding of the Idu Mishmi culture, will be part of the festival. Also, workshops on paper and jewellery making, by the famous House of Macnok, and a session on waste management by AI Green Foundation will be organised. Indian Idol contestant Obom Tangu, fusion band Asthitva and Owl Jam too are set to feature in the festival.The PRO further said that the programmes have been planned accordingly to provide a holistic experience of Dibang valley to the tourists. With the aim of promoting sustainable tourism and reducing plastic waste, the festival venue will be kept plastic-free, the PRO added.While structures inside the venue are being crafted with eco-friendly materials like bamboo and pine, the festival will see a tree being planted for every ticket sold, in collaboration with the forest department.
