NEW DELHI: Pasang Dorjee Sona of the Bharatiya Janata Party won the election from Mechuka constituency by 6,320 votes and by a margin of 2,558.
Mechuka constituency is one of the 60 seats comprising the Arunachal Pradesh state assembly.
Mechuka is a part of the Shi Yomi district. This constituency went into polling on April 19 of the State Assembly elections, 2024. It is reserved for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Tribes.
Prominent candidates of the 2024 assembly elections were Pasang Dorjee Sona (BJP) and Aju Chije (NCP).
In the previous 2019 Arunachal Pradesh assembly elections, the voter turnout for the Mechuka Assembly constituency elections was around 78%. Pasang Dorjee Sona (BJP) emerged victorious, having switched allegiance to the BJP. Togi Ragyor (NPP) was the significant contender but did not win the seat.
In the 2014 state elections, the voter turnout for the Mechuka Assembly constituency was approximately 80%. Pasang Dorjee Sona (PPA) won the election.
