Jaipur police recover 790 lost, stolen mobiles worth ₹2cr under Operation Re-Call

Jaipur: City police have recovered a total of 790 lost and stolen mobile phones so far in 2026, with an estimated market value of around Rs 2 crore.

The recoveries were made by Jaipur East Police under a special drive titled ‘Operation Re-Call’, aimed at tracing missing devices and returning them to their rightful owners. All these mobile phones are in the process of being returned to their legitimate owners.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Ranjita Sharma Monday said that during April alone, a focused campaign led to the tracing and recovery of 400 mobile phones from different states. “All recovered devices were handed over to their original owners, bringing relief and restoring confidence among victims. We found that some of the phones were stolen, others were lost or misplaced,” Sharma added.

The DCP said that many smartphones now come with a feature that requires a password to switch off the device. “Enabling this setting can significantly improve the chances of recovery in theft cases, as it makes it harder for miscreants to disable or resell the phone,” she added.

She appealed to the public to report lost or stolen mobile phones on the Govt of India’s CEIR portal to aid recovery efforts. In cases of cyber fraud, citizens are advised to contact the helpline number 1930 or file complaints at cybercrime.gov.in. Authorities have warned people not to share their banking details or fall prey to online fraud.

In a crackdown on cybercrime, the cyber cell of the Jaipur Police (East) managed to freeze fraudulent transactions worth approximately Rs 3.85 crore till April 2026. “Out of this amount, around ₹65.48 lakh has been successfully refunded to victims,” Sharma said.
