Maharani College starts creche on campus

Jaipur: The University Maharani College, early this week, started a creche on its campus for employees’ children along with a women wellness centre for students.Nimali Singh, principal of Maharani College said, “For the first time, a creche has been started in the campus for children (up to the age of 6 years) of teachers and staff working in the college. The efforts that have been going on for almost a decade have been carried out successfully by Vice- Chanceller Prof Rajeev Jain and entrepreneur and social activist Rajeev Arora. The creche timings will be from 8am to 4pm like the college timings, which will be helpful for the staff.”She said that there will be a charge of Rs 3,000 per month for the creche. At present, there are three rooms, which will be divided according to the children’s ages. A supervisor and staff will be appointed to take care of the kids. A separate play area is also being developed that will be guarded by a net and fence to avoid any stray animals from entering the rooms. On Women’s Day this year, the vice-chancellor had announced that a creche service will be started in the college.A women wellness cell named ‘Maitri’ for about 8,000 girl students, was also inaugurated in the college this week. “Through this cell, we have planned to provide health-related counselling to students - nutritional, psychological, first-aid and harassment-related counselling and work on prevention of such cases,” added Singh.The college administration is also working to establish a Student Grievance Redressal Cell next month.
