MLA urges govt to address stray dog menace
Jaipur: The issue of stray dog attacks was raised in the Assembly Monday during Question Hour, with legislators voicing concern over the growing threat to public safety, especially for children.Kota South MLA Sandeep Sharma brought up the matter under Rule 295, stating that the stray dog population had beoame a serious problem in both urban and rural areas across the state.
"The problem has reached a stage where people are hesitant to step outside their homes. If prompt and effective measures are not taken, the situation could worsen," Sharma said in the House. He noted that children were among the most frequent victims of dog attacks. "While stray dogs pose a risk to everyone, children are particularly vulnerable. Reports of attacks on children are becoming increasingly common, which is deeply concerning," he said.Sharma also drew attention to difficulties faced by food delivery personnel who often travel late at night. According to him, such workers frequently face the danger of being chased or attacked by stray dogs.Referring to judicial observations on rising dog bite incidents, the MLA said steps currently being taken by the authorities were not sufficient to address the problem.Sharma urged the state govt to initiate a statewide sterilisation campaign for stray dogs to control their population and to ensure that urban local bodies responded promptly to dog bite cases.
