The district health department has launched a mass awareness drive against dengue. JAMSHEDPUR: The district health department has launched a mass awareness drive against dengue. Given that dengue positive cases are being reported largely in the urban circle, the department announced to install hoardings across Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC), Mango Notified Area Committee (MNAC), and, Jugsalai Municipal Council (JMC) jurisdiction.

“Bill boards containing do’s and dont’s will come up at different spots. Besides, broadcasting of audio and video messages will be done on air by the public relations department,” said district civil surgeon Dr Jujhar Majhi.
Public awareness is being done through newspapers and Twitter handle of the administration. Further, three teams are conducting antilarval activity in the three local urban bodies of Jamshedpur, Mango, and Jugsalai
Private enterprises namely Tata Motors, Tinplate, Tata Steel Utility and Infrastructure Services (TS UISL), are also taking necessary steps to stop the spread of dengue in their respective command areas. The TS UISL distributed pamplets.
The district surveillance officer, Dr Asad said, “Mango area is reporting the maximum number of cases, therefore health officials have been asked to carry out containment and awareness programme in a focused manner in this area.” Till July 24, the district has reported 54 dengue positive cases, including 36 in July alone.
Out of the total count of positive cases, over 40% have been reported from different residential areas of Mango,” Dr Asad said.
