JAMSHEDPUR: A 34-year-old reportedly succumbed to heatstroke at Karma village under Chhaterpur police station limits in Palamu district while a Class X student of Gurunanak High School at Sakchi in Jamshedpur fainted inside the classroom and was hospitalised on Thursday.

Ajay Kumar said, "Family members of the deceased,
Ajay Yadav, told police that he reportedly died of heatstroke.
His body was found in a field near his house on Thursday."
Ajay used to work all day in the intense heat without drinking adequate water. He used to consume alcohol, sources said.
The officer-in-charge of the Chhaterpur police station, Shekhar Kumar, said, "The family of the deceased insisted on a post-mortem examination. Hence, we have sent the body to the Medinirai Medical College and Hospital (MMCH), Daltonganj for an autopsy."
Dr R K Ranjan of MMCH said, "Shock, dehydration, low blood pressure, and dryness of skin among others are symptoms of heatstroke. The viscera of the deceased will be preserved for forensic tests."
