Jharkhand: Three kids crushed to death under oil tanker in West Singhbhum

Three children, including two infants, were killed in the Jangiburu area under Manjhari police station of Chaibasa of West Singhbhum district on Tuesday after a speeding oil tanker turned turtle and fell on a hut located alongside a road. The driver was arrested, police said.

JAMSHEDPUR: Three children, including two infants, were killed in the Jangiburu area under Manjhari police station of Chaibasa of West Singhbhum district on Tuesday after a speeding oil tanker turned turtle and fell on a hut located alongside a road. The driver was arrested, police said.
The police said the deceased were identified as eight-year-old Sukhmati Tasmoi and her eight-month-old brother Sagar Tamsoi besides another six-month-old Pano Tamsoi.

West Singhbhum superintendent of police (SP) Asutosh Shekhar said: “The driver of the tanker was negotiating an uphill road when he lost control. The vehicle rolled backwards before falling on a hut located by the roadside. The three children, who were inside the hut, were killed on the spot. The bodies were sent to the Chaibasa sadar hospital for autopsy. We will conduct tests on the driver to check if he was inebriated.”
Chief minister Hemant Soren tweeted his condolences to the bereaved family members.
Following the incident, locals blocked the Manjhari-Chaibasa road for hours, demanding compensation for the family members of the deceased. The blockade was lifted after the local police assured every help to the families to get the appropriate compensation.
