5 nomination papers sold on Day 1

Kanpur: On day one, five candidates obtained nomination papers for the Sisamau Assembly seat where bypoll is scheduled to be held on November 13. Samajwadi Party candidate Ms Naseem Solanki is the party's candidate from this seat. Her sibling purchased one set of nomination papers on Friday. Naseem Solanki is the spouse of former MLA Irfan Solanki, who had been convicted by the court in a land grabbing case. The district administration has implemented comprehensive security measures and fortified the campus with a CCTV network. The nomination fee for a general category candidate is Rs 10,000 while for an SC/ST candidate, it is Rs 5,000. The contenders procured the nomination form after presenting their Aadhar card.The returning officer said only five candidates have submitted the nomination papers. Those who obtained nomination papers on day one are: Naseem Solanki (SP-1 set), Sanjay Shah (Independent-1 set), Ashok Paswan (Sabhi Jan Party-1 set), Surendra Bajpai (Independent-1 set), Gaurav Bajpai (Apna Dal Kamerawadi-1 set).
