Officials asked to cancel licenses of people driving in wrong direction
Kanpur: In a move to improve road safety, divisional commissioner Amit Gupta ordered the cancellation of licenses of people found driving in the wrong direction.Presiding over a road safety committee meeting here on Wednesday, the commissioner directed the officers concerned to take legal action against these offenders under section 281 of the BNS.Taking a strong stance against underage drivers, the commissioner directed the police and the RTO to work together to prevent minors from operating vehicles. Schools have also been requested to provide guidelines to tackle this problem.The meeting also focused on the issue of overloading in passenger buses. Gupta ordered a comprehensive checking campaign taking departmental action against those violating the rules. He instructed officials to identify and repair accident prone areas and roads (black spots) within the city, setting a 15-day timeline for completion.The commissioner instructed the NHAI officials to ensure installation of work-in-progress boards on highways, warning of action against the agency if they fail to comply. He asked the officers to implement measures to prevent stray animals from entering highways, stressing the importance of road safety for all users.
