WB maintains lead in bridge championship

Kanpur: West Bengal pair Abhijit Chakraborty and Rana Roy are maintaining their top position with 203.86 VPs after 16th round in All India Sir Padampat Singhania memorial prize money bridge championship played at the Kamla Club hall here on Saturday.The pair had sat on top after the 13th round and maintained their place among the other 25 pairs. Another West Bengal pair of Sanjit Dey & Binod Kumar Shaw too strongly held their second place which they had got after the 15th round. They have 187.99 VPs. There was no change in third place as Maharashtra pair Sunil Machhar & Arun Bapat sat firmly in this spot with 187.37 VPs.At the end of yesterday’s nine rounds, West Bengal pair Sanjit Dey & Binod Kumar Shaw led the field with 112.45 VP. The 2nd place belongs to West Bengal pair Abhijit Chakraborty & Rana Roy with 109.99 VPs. They were in 5th place at the end of round 6. West Bengal pair Hemant Jalan & Ashish Malhotra slipped one place down from round no. 6 and secured 3rd place with 108.60 V.Ps. The 4th place was secured by West Bengal & Gujarat pair Swarnendu Banerjee & Sapan Desai with 106.53 VPs. They were in 6th place at the end of round 6.At the end of round 15, West Bengal pair Abhijit Chakraborty & Rana Roy are still holding their 1st position with 186.51 VPs. West Bengal pair Sanjit Dey & Binod Kumar Shaw did not lose their grip on 2nd place with 178.98 VPs. The 3rd place also showed no change with Maharashtra pair Sunil Machhar & Arun Bapat having 178.83 VPs. The 4th place was captured by West Bengal Pair Somesh Bhattacharya & Samir Basak with 172.86 VPs. However, the duo from Varanasi slipped to 6th place with 168.73 VPs. They were in 4th place after round no. 13.
