Father and son injured in attack
Thiruvananthapuram: A 50-year-old man and his 19-year-old son were badly injured after a gang of armed assailants barged into their residence near Poovar, outside the city, on Thursday morning and attacked them. Shahul Hameed and his son Imam Badusha of Attinkara House, Kallingavilakom, Velamkudi near Poovar were the ones who were attacked. The assailants, who managed to flee from the scene after the attack, are yet to be traced.
Incidentally, Imam Badusha is an accused in a murder case and the relatives of the victim are suspected to be behind the attack.

The police said that the attack occurred at around 7am. According to the statements by Hameed and son, there were around five assailants. They came in a Honda City car. They carried out the attack using iron rods. Badusha has suffered fractures on both hands and legs.
Imam Badusha along with two others, Bilal and Abdulla, had murdered an autorickshaw driver, Shameer, at Kodivilakom in January 2015. Badusha and Abdulla were minors back then. The three used to engage in bike races on public roads at Kodivilakom which had become a nuisance to the residents there. When Shameer questioned their actions, they allegedly attacked him using iron rods, resulting in his death.
Poovar sub-inspector N Suresh Kumar said that according to Hameed and Badusha it was Shameer’s brother Shamnad and other relatives who attacked them. A search is on to trace the suspects.
