from a native of Andhra Pradesh on Monday. The accused Panki Poornachandar (32) was arrested from Muvattupuzha bus stand when he disembarked with the narcotic substance.

“Poornachandar travels from Visakhapatanam to Orissa border to purchase ganja. He buys it from tribal hamlets paying Rs 3,000 per kg. Then he travels by train to reach Kerala where he sells the stuff to migrants hailing from West Bengal. He sells the ganja for Rs 15,000 per kg,” Muvattupuzha excise CI Anil Kumar K K said.

Officials arrested the accused following a tip off provided by another accused in an earlier case. Poornachandar was produced in the Muvattupuzha JFCM and remanded in judicial custody.

Man held for pledging fake gold: Aluva east police arrested a 55- year-old man on charges of pledging fake gold. The arrested has been identified as Makkar of Aluva.

One arrested for disrupting police on duty: Police arrested Basellius, a 30-year-old natïve of Pallipuram for interrupting the official duty of police.

According to police, the incident happened on Sunday night when a police team was patrolling at Munambam. A police team on motor bike was patrolling the beach on the eve of Christmas when they spotted a three-member team causing public nuisance. Following the intimation, a police jeep reached the beach. When police attempted to bundle them into the jeep, Basellius smashed the glass at the rear side of the jeep.

Two arrested for stealing mobile phone: The central police arrested two people in connection with snatching a mobile phone and money of a 70 – year – old woman from Andra Pradesh. The arrested were identified as Pradeep (56) of Mattanchery and Vipin Mohan (32) of Thrissur.

The incident related to the case happened on Sunday afternoon near a mall on M G Road.

Man held for snatching gold chain: Police arrested a 27 – year – old man of Kannur for snatching a gold chain after threatening the victim. The arrested was identified as Fasil of Thalassery.
