Power shutdown at Ekm medical college for generator installation on Sunday

Kochi: A new 750 KW generator is being installed at Ernakulam Government Medical College, necessitating a partial shutdown of the KSEB power supply at the hospital on Sunday from 7am to 11am. The PWD electrical wing is managing the installation. To ensure uninterrupted services at the medical college during the shutdown, temporary generators have been set up as primary and secondary backups.
All department heads have been instructed to be present during the shutdown period. Notifications have also been sent to the district medical officer, police, fire department, and 108 ambulance services to keep them informed about the work. A trial run for the generator installation was successfully conducted on Saturday.
Dr Ganesh Mohan, medical superintendent of the medical college, has requested nearby hospitals, healthcare workers, and the public to only use the medical college's services for critical cases during both the trial run and maintenance work on Sunday.
