Stray that bit 15 people found dead in Idukki
Idukki: A stray dog that had caused panic in the Pampanar area near Peermade in Idukki after biting 15 people was found dead.
The animal bit four people on Sunday, while 11 others were attacked on Monday.
All those injured were admitted to the Peermade taluk hospital, where they received primary treatment. In view of the increasing stray dog menace in the region, Peermade grama panchayat president Shanthi Ramesh said that urgent measures would be taken to capture stray dogs and shift them to shelters. The panchayat has also decided to seize cattle found roaming on public roads and place them in cattle pounds.
The animals will be released only after fines are collected from their owners. If the owners fail to claim them within the stipulated period, the animals will be auctioned, Ramesh added.
