Kochi: City police apprehended two men with ganja on Saturday. The arrested are Mahafuj S K, 21, and Eman S K, 23, both hailing from Kazipara, Murshidabad, West Bengal. As much as 6.112-kg of ganja was seized.Acting on a tip-off, Kochi city Dansaf team, led by narcotics cell assistant commissioner T D Sunilkumar, conducted a raid at a rented house on Irumbanam Chungath Road, where the accused were residing.The accused were booked under relevant sections of NDPS Act. They were produced in court and remanded in judicial custody.Man held for fraud: A 51-year-old man was arrested in an economic offence case for alleged fraud. The arrested person was identified as Fazil Muhamed Shamier Marickar, 51, from Vennala.According to a statement of the city police, the accused, who was chief operating officer at a private firm, transferred Rs 1.15 crore from the company account for a project without the board’s knowledge to purchase land.He then allegedly sold this land without informing the board, causing a financial loss of Rs 1.15 crore to the company.
The arrest was made by the Kalamassery police team led by inspector Baiju E R, including SI Shameer A, ASI Shaij, and CPOs Mahin Abubakar, Vinu and Vineesh, from the accused’s flat in Mulavukad. The accused was presented in court and remanded to Kakkanad jail.Men held for burglary: Chengamanad police arrested two men for an alleged burglary at a hotel on Saturday.The arrested persons have been identified as Dipu Hajra, 26, from Sinpur, West Bengal, and Rajesh Bujal, 26, from Siliguri, West Bengal.According to police, the accused broke into a hotel near Kurumassery and stole items worth Rs 25 lakh, including electric wires, earth line copper and transformer copper. Police said Hajra has existing cases against him at Aluva and Ernakulam railway police stations.They were apprehended from Chengamanad and Aluva areas. The investigation team included SIs K P Anilkumar, Navaneeth, and SCPOs Kishore, Aneesh and Mithun.
