2 youths killed after bike hits Sampriti flyover wall

Kolkata: Two youths died when their bike hit the wall of Sampriti flyover at Rampur under Maheshtala police station on Sunday. The accident happened around 6.15 am when the biker, Akash Dey (25), a resident of Taratala Road and his pillion rider, Rohan Lohar, a resident of Oxytown area in Shibrampur, were heading towards Budge Budge from Taratala.“So far in this year, two accidents took place on the flyover. But this is the first fatal accident,” said an officer.According to the police, the biker lost control over the two-wheeler that ended up hitting the wall of the flyover at a high speed. The two youths fell down on the road under the impact of the accident and sustained grievous injuries. Some locals reportedly spotted the youths lying in a pool of blood and they informed the police about the accident.Cops took the two youths to Vidyasagar Hospital at Behala, where they were declared brought dead. Cops identified the youths with the help of the papers they were carrying in their pockets and informed their family members. Cops said they had recovered broken parts of the bike and shoes of the youths from the accident spot, though no helmet was found. Sayan Das, a neighbour of the biker, said, “Akash had left home early in the morning and I had seen him wearing a helmet.”
