KOLKATA: Great music, mouth-watering food, adda and games - this autumn evening couldn't have got better for the residents of Greenwood Park Extension in Rajarhat. People turned out in hordes for the Times Evening programme organised by The Times of India on October 24. The evening kicked off with a cooking competition, in which 10 women of the complex participated.

It was a culinary delight both for the gourmets as well as the participants. The women dished out some mouth-watering vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. Asked to prepare delicious vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes, the women came up with some of the mouth-watering dishes.
Shreyashi Dasgupta came out as the winner for her exquisitely delicious Mushroom Babycorn Salad. Tina Tate won the second price for Dahi Ki Kadhi. Next in line was the drawing competition, in which children of all ages participated. The children were divided into three groups and were asked to draw whatever they liked. While some preferred to paint scenery some children sketched their favourite cartoon characters. Niyati Singhal bagged the first prize in the 6+ category followed by Sabarna Sarkar and Akashdeep Mohanty. In the 8+ category Anjishnu Dey won the first prize followed by Piuli Nandi and Sourish Sen. In the third and final category - 11+ - Rajeev Chatterjee was declared the winner followed by Arkoprabha Hazra and Sagnik Sarkar.
The gathered audience started warming up with the Antakshari competition in which 24 residents of the complex, divided into 8 groups of 3 each, participated. The competition turned out to be an engrossing one in which Tushar Singh, Arkaprabha Hazra and Mausumi Chatterjee won the first prize. The second place was won by Tina Tate, Kumkum Sen and Subham Nathani.
Next it was for the live band Juvenile Orchestra to set the stage on fire and get the residents grooving to their music. The band belted out some popular Bengali and Hindi numbers. The evening ended with the interesting and exciting Times Tambola.
Prakash Vajpayee won the Jaldi Five round. The first row was won by Anushka Singh, second row and third row was won by Ankush Dasgupta and full house was won by Jhuma Tarafdar.
"The evening organised by Times of India was mind blowing, superb, fantastic and thoroughly enjoyable. TOI rocks!" said cultural committee secretary of the residential complex, Kaushiki.
