Kolkata: Calcutta High Court on Friday directed the two state-run electricity companies to clear pending dearness allowance (DA) arrears to their employees before the court takes up the state’s review petition on January 6, reports Subrata Chattoraj.
Justice Rajasekhar Mantha gave a piece of his mind to advocate general S N Mookherjee, who submitted that the state government had already paid Rs 510 crore as DA and was trying to clear the arrears.
The judge reiterated that DA payment to state employees was not a privilege. “I am therefore passing a written order to clear the DA arrears. Institutions exist because of the employees,” he told the AG.
