Man held for misbehaving with SDO in Salt Lake shop
Kolkata: A customer at a popular optical store at AE Block in Salt Lake was arrested on Tuesday after he allegedly misbehaved with a sub-divisional officer, used objectionable words and made offensive gestures at her.
The accused, Anirban Banerjee, was apprehended by Bidhannagar North Police Station cops.
Police said the SDO was in the store when Banerjee began his abusive tirade. The SDO initially protested but as Banerjee allegedly continued his aggressive behaviour, she alerted police.
Investigators said the exact trigger for Banerjee’s outburst was yet to be established. “We are looking at the CCTV footage from the store,” said a senior police officer. Banerjee has been booked for criminal intimidation and insulting the modesty of a woman.
