Undertrial jumps off court building

KOLKATA: A 28-year-old arrested in connection with his wife’s alleged suicide, jumped off the second floor of the

Barasat district court building

on Wednesday.

, however, survived but sustained several fractures and was admitted in Barasat district hospital in a critical condition.

Police said Guchhait, a resident of Barasat’s Hridaypur, was arrested after his wife Soma Das allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself. On the basis of the complaint lodged by the her parents, Guchhait, his parents and his brother were arrested under sections of 498 (dowry torture) and 306 (abetment of suicide). —Sanjib Chakraborty.
