Gurgaon: High drama prevailed on MG Road on Sunday night when a Mercedes car collided with two cars, one of which overturned from the impact.
The Mercedes' driver was allegedly in an inebriated state and also abused policemen. While no FIR has been lodged , police claimed they had issued a challan to the Mercedes driver. Sources said the driver claimed he was related to a former minister.
The accident happened around midnight when the white Mercedes Benz (HR 26 BW 0007) was moving from IFFCO Chowk towards Sikanderpur Metro station. The speeding Mercedes car first hit a Swift D-zire near the MG Road Metro station, following which it rammed into a Hyundai Accent taxi causing it to overturn. The Mercedes then crashed into a divider, police said.
Shishupal Yadav, the taxi driver, claimed he had a narrow escape and then informed the police control room. He added the two men in the Mercedes argued with policemen posted at the spot and managed to escape from the spot leaving the car behind.
"The two men who were in the Mercedes misbehaved with cops but no action was taken as they claimed that they were related to a former minister. They were inebriated but police were unable to take them to the hospital to conduct an examination," said an eyewitness.
"We have issued a challan to the Mercedes driver Bijender, a resident of Gurgaon, for dangerous driving and have taken the car in custody," said Sudip Kumar, SHO, DLF-II police station.
