I-T raids premises of Rashtriya Krantikari Samajwadi Party chief Gopal Rai in Lucknow

LUCKNOW: The Income Tax department raided premises of Gopal Rai, president of Rashtriya Krantikari Samajwadi Party, in Lucknow on Wednesday.


The raid is part of a tax evasion probe against registered unrecognised political parties (RUPP) and their alleged dubious funding.



I-T is doing a pan India raid in Gujarat, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Haryana and some other states.

I-T sleuths swopped down at the premises of Gopal Rai in Chhatarpur road in Hussainganj police station area of Lucknow on Wednesday.

Heavy police force was deployed outside the premises of Rai.

Sources in the I-T department said that action has been launched against the RUPPs, their linked entities, operators and others.

The action comes after the Election Commission (EC) which recently struck off 87 entities from its list of RUPP after they were found non-existent during physical verification.
