Mayawati flays attack on SDM during inspection

Lucknow: BSP chief Mayawati on Tuesday termed the attack on Shahabad SDM Sushil Mishra in Hardoi “unfortunate and extremely alarming” and asked the Uttar Pradesh govt to take the matter seriously.

In a post on X, Mayawati said Mishra was assaulted by hooligans pelting bricks and stones while he was conducting an inspection. She said the officer sustained injuries and was admitted to hospital for treatment.

Mayawati said such incidents must be prevented to ensure that govt functions continue smoothly and to check alleged corruption. She also warned that attacks on officials reflect the presence of anarchic elements and pose a threat to law and order.

She urged the govt to pay appropriate attention in the broader public interest.
