LUCKNOW: Anti-terrorist squad of UP Police on Sunday arrested an alleged Jaish-e-Mohammed (
JeM) operative Habibul Islam (19) aka
Saifullah from Kanpur.
Additional director general (ADG) ATS, Naveen Arora, told TOI that Saifullah was held after the arrest of Nadeem who was assigned the task of eliminating former BJP spokesperson
Nupur Sharma. Nadeem was arrested from Saharanpur on Friday.
“While scanning the mobile phone seized from the possession of Saifullah, sleuths found chats and voice messages from listed JeM operatives and members of Pakistan and Afghanistan based terror organisations were also found, some of which date back to 2018,” Arora said.
Arora also said that Saifullah was planning to visit Pakistan for undergoing training at JeM camps.
ATS sources said investigations so far have revealed that Saifullah used social media platforms like Telegram, Facebook Massenger and Club House to keep in touch with individuals across the border using 30 virtual numbers on Voice Over Internet Protocol (VIOP) mode. These very numbers used to train Saifullah in fidayeen attacks by a Pakistan based handler.
