LUCKNOW: A 30-year-old woman, Sheetla Devi, allegedly slit the throat of her children Nidhi (06), Nitesh (04), before hanging herself in Shivratanganj police station of Amethi district on Tuesday.
The incident was reported from Kukha village and police have detained victim's husband Dharamraj Pasi and lodged a case of abetment of suicide against him. The incident reportedly came to light when the victim's mother-in-law Sheetal called the locals to break open the door of Sheetla's room after she spotted it locked from inside.
Sheetla's body was found hanging from the ceiling while her two children were found dead lying in a pool of blood on the ground," said SP Amethi, Elamaran. Elamaran told TOI: " The woman first slit the throats of her children and then hanged herself. "The exact cause will be ascertained after autopsy report comes out," he said. The officer also said that father of the deceased woman Ayodhya Prasad has alleged that her daughter was tortured by Dharamraj Pasi based on which an FIR under the charges of abetment of suicide was registered.
A sharp-edged weapon with blood stains was also recovered which seems to have been used to slit the throat of the two children. Dharamraj worked as a driver while Sheetla was a housewife.
