Wooden block placed on track in bid to derail Swatantrata Senani Exp
Lucknow: In yet another sabotage attempt, miscreants place a wooden log on the railway track between Ghazipur Ghat and Ghazipur City railway station to derail Delhi-bound Swatantrata Senani Express (12561) on Monday.
Due to the impact, the loco-engine of the train suffered failure after hitting the wooden log which was dragged for nearly 500 metres before the train came to a halt.

The train was cruising at 100kmph at the time of the incident, and even after applying emergency brake, the collision could not be avoided.
After the incident, junior engineer, railway, Nishant Kumar Singh lodged an FIR at Sadar Kotwali in Ghazipur against unidentified persons under sections 150 (maliciously attempting to wreck train) and 153 (endangering safety) of the Railway Act and Section 125 (endangering human life or personal safety of others) and 285(danger or obstruction in public way) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS).
The train was delayed by two-and-a-half hours and was hauled by another locomotive engine as the wooden log had damaged the hosepipe (braking system for the train which operates on air pressure).
Additional superintendent of police, Ghazipur, Gyanendra Nath Prasad said, "This was the second such incident in the area. On Sept , three men had kept gravel on the rail track and pelted stones on Prayagraj-Ballia passengers. We arrested them the next day. We are probing if people from the same gang had attempted to sabotage the railway property."
In a similar incident, two men, including the son of a farmers' leader in Farrukhabad, were arrested by police for attempting to derail Kasganj-Farrukhabad passenger train (05389), by placing a wooden log on the Kanpur-Kasganj route between Bhatasa and Shamshabad railway stations on Aug 24.
