Armed gang foiled in Ludhiana home clinic invasion.

Ludhiana: An attempted armed robbery at the home clinic of a registered medical practitioner (RMP) was foiled late on Friday night when the doctor's wife bravely ran outside to raise an alarm, scaring off the four masked assailants.

The incident occurred around 11pm at the home-based clinic of Pankaj Sharma, a medical practitioner who uses a wheelchair, in the Gopal Nagar area of Tibba Road. Pankaj Sharma's wife, Pooja Sharma, has shared with police that three men and one woman arrived at their home via an e-rickshaw. The group presented themselves as patients, with the woman complaining of severe chest pain.


Pooja Sharma recounted: "My husband came out of the room and examined the woman, telling that her chest pain was due to acidity and he would inject her with medicine." At that moment, all three men with her suddenly flashed three pistols, pointing two at Pooja's husband and one at Pooja. The situation escalated when Pooja Sharma screamed, prompting their daughter to rush out and also begin shouting. When one of the armed men demanded the family's valuables, Pooja Sharma made a courageous dash out of the house.

She said: "I ran outside the house and raised an alarm to call neighbours. Thereafter, the accused got scared and rushed out of the house." Pooja Sharma also attempted to apprehend the female suspect as the group fled toward the e-rickshaw, but she was threatened by the armed men. All four suspects then escaped in the vehicle.

The family contacted the Tibba police following the incident. However, they expressed frustration with the investigation, accusing the police of being slow to collect crucial CCTV footage. "It is such a serious matter that four people came to our house to rob us, three of whom had pistols in hand. The police should act swiftly to nab them," Pooja Sharma added.

Additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP-IV) Vaibhav Sehgal confirmed that authorities concerned were pursuing the case. "The police are registering a case against the unidentified accused on the basis of the complaint of the family. The probe is on," Sehgal said.
