Man booked for raping 21-year-old daughter

Ludhiana: Police have filed a case against a man for the alleged rape of his daughter, student of a private college. The accused is around 50 years of age. The survivor, around 21, told the police that her elder sister is married while her other siblings, a brother and a sister, live and study in their native state. She added that her mother also joined them in Nov last year, leaving her with her father.
As per the complainant, one night, her father came home drunk and tried to molest her. She resisted but said he tried to force her. The survivor said though she informed her mother, he father would repeatedly come home drunk and accost her. The survivor said that on the night of Feb 8, their landlord had gone out and she was alone when her father came between 8pm and 9pm and raped her.
The complainant said she tried to raise an alarm but he pressed her mouth shut. The next day in college, her friends saw her ill-disposed and questioned her. She said she told them what happened and they encouraged her to approach the police. The survivor called the police helpline from the college, after which a woman police officer came and recorded her statement.
A case has been registered against the accused under section 64 of BNS (rape), on the statement of the complainant. Investigating officer, ASI Rajinder Singh said the accused is yet to be arrested and raids are on to nab him.
