To make the day special, kids from a city school was also invited to present a performance. The performance was by the kids of Nirdosh School, a school that caters to special children in the city. They were dressed in khakis like freedom fighters and Tricoloured attires and presented a dance performance to the tunes of some patriotic beats.
"The performance by these little master gained huge applause and appreciation," asserted Kavita Sethi, a club member from Model Town.
"People, who are special, are often considered as misfits. And all of them are special in their own sense. I sometimes wonder what do they think about us. One thing that I am sure of is that these children are much more talented and capable," she added.
"Talent in these kids are abundant," said Alka Chhabra, sectretary of the Wheel Club that works in association with the school, adding, "They are capable of doing things that we can't even think of. And most importantly, these kids are very creative, for they are excellent when it comes to art."
While some of the kids stood at the back row waving little self-made national flags, three girls in the front row presented a dance performance.
"It is a pleasure to see these children perform, look at their faces, they are so innocent, untouched by these worldly nastiness. It is a blessing even to witness such absolute innocence. These kids are indeed special." gushed Shivani Bhandari, a homemaker from Dugri.
