MADURAI: Madurai district collector on Wednesday met and felicitated , a who did maintenance work for free to thank and show gratitude to the govt school his son studied and its teachers. His story was published in the Wednesday’s edition of TOI.
Alagumurugan’s son, A Bheeman did his schooling at Elumalai Boys Govt Higher Secondary School and just passed out this year after clearing the Class XII state board exams.
With guidance of his schoolteachers, the boy joined Gandhigram Rural Institute in Dindigul to study BA economics.
Alagumurugan, who was asked to do repair work in the school buildings recently, worked for three days but decided to forgo any pay to thank the school where his son studied. The gesture won praise from schoolteachers and the public.
On Wednesday, Madurai collector Sangeetha inspected Elumalai Boys Govt Higher Secondary School and interacted with students. Later, she felicitated Alagumurugan for his service at Peraiyur taluk office in the presence of officials and the school’s teachers.
