Two women drown in sea near Vembar
Cleared/130 Words Madurai: Two women drowned in sea after being caught in a tidal wave near the coastal village of Vembar on Friday morning. Three more women, who were rescued, were rushed to Tuticorin Govt Medical College Hospital. The deceased were identified as M Ilakkiya, 21, and S Kanniyammal, 50. The women were part of a family from Periasamipuram near Vembar. The family members visited the beach, on Thursday night. They were bathing in the sea when they were caught in a tidal wave. Ilakkiya, Kanniyammal, S Anitha, 25, M Swetha, 22, and S Murugalakshmi, 39, drowned. Locals rushed to their aid and pulled all five from the wave. They were rushed to Vembar primary health care centre, but doctors declared Ilakkiya and Kanniyammal died. The bodies were sent to Vilathikulam govt hospital for postmortem.
