“It is not right on part of a minister to do it. Whoever it is, no matter if he is a social worker or a political leader, he should not take advantage of a woman’s helplessness.

Meanwhile, even when the issue was being discussed, the minister has submitted his resignation on his own. Chief minister Siddaramaiah has accepted his resignation and has said that an inquiry will be initiated to bring truth to light. Truth needs to be uncovered through an inquiry,” Umashree said.

She said the inquiry is neither in support nor against anyone, but it is just to bring facts to light.

To a query as to whether CID, which is a state investigation agency, can bring facts to light, Umashree said the CID is capable of doing it. “Our officials of CID wing too are competent enough to take up an unbiased investigation. I don’t believe that they would submit a report in favour of any person,” she added.
